• The LT3958EUHE#TRPBF is a wide input range, current mode DC/DC converter from Analog Devices (formerly Linear Technology). It accepts 5V to 80V input and can be configured as a boost, flyback, SEPIC or inverting converter, so a single part covers several high voltage supply architectures and simplifies BOM management.
• Its internal low side N-channel power MOSFET is rated 84V / 3.3A and driven from an internal 7.2V regulated supply. Switching frequency is programmable from 100kHz to 1MHz with one external resistor (RT = 140k gives about 100kHz, 41.2k about 300kHz, 10.5k about 1MHz) and can be synchronized to an external clock through the SYNC pin. A single feedback pin (FBX) sets either a positive output (1.6V reference) or a negative output (-0.8V reference), and the design works with ceramic capacitors only, keeping the solution compact.
• A 5V minimum operating voltage, less than 1uA shutdown current and 1.6mA typical operating current suit battery powered systems. Programmable soft start and frequency foldback limit inductor current during start-up, programmable input undervoltage lockout with hysteresis prevents restart glitches, and output overvoltage and overcurrent protection is included.
• Operating junction temperature is -40C to +125C in a thermally enhanced 36(28)-lead QFN (5mm x 6mm, exposed pad), supplied on tape and reel for volume SMT assembly. Typical applications include automotive, telecom and industrial equipment; the official DC1569A demonstration circuit is a boost converter delivering 48V at 0.5A from an 11V to 40V input.
